Elizabeth Hird

Elizabeth teaches Specials Ballet classes from Junior to Advanced level.  Her classes are designed for those who show a special aptitude for ballet to build on their basic technique. Students are given the opportunity to learn dances from famous ballets and to improve their performance skills to help prepare for auditions, examinations and shows.
 
Elizabeth was brought up near Cheltenham in Gloucestershire. She trained at the Janet Marshall Dance Studios, studying both R.A.D and I.S.T.D ballet and won the I.S.T.D ballet awards two years running (grades four and five).  Following three years of weekly classes as a Junior Associate she was accepted into the Royal Ballet School as a full time student at the age of eleven.  Here she studied Classical Ballet, Pas de Deux, Repertoire, Stagecraft, Drama, Folk Dancing, Irish, Scottish and Historical Dance.

Elizabeth performed in the winning performance of the Kenneth MacMillan Choreographic Award in 1995 and danced the ‘Pas de Deux’ in 1996 School performance of ‘En Bateau’ at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.  She graduated from the Royal Ballet School with a Diploma of Classical Ballet in 1998.  Elizabeth has danced with both the Royal Ballet and Birmingham Royal Ballet in a range of corps de ballet roles, including Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Romeo and Juliet and La Bayad're.
